Our Mission:
To enhance the quality of park and recreation experiences through financial and volunteer support.
The Rock Island Parks & Recreation Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) organization as recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, and has been in operation since 2015.

The Rock Island Park & Recreation Foundation is made up of local Rock Island residents that are vested in Rock Island and the improvement and growth of our park and recreation opportunities and offerings.
Each Board member contributes annually to the foundation.
Rock Island Parks & Recreation is unlike traditional parks & recreational departments.
On average, parks & recreation department budgets are subsidized 75 to 80% by tax dollars. Rock Island Parks & Recreation is unique in that it is subsidized only 20 to 30% by tax dollars, and generates 70 to 80% of the budget through revenue generation.
While this is challenging, it is necessary to ensure the quality of parks, facilities, programs and events in challenging city financial times.
The business minded approach of Rock Island Parks & Recreation is necessary to ensure the quality of life for our residents.
As a resident of Rock Island, we are fortunate have the park amenities and services we have. The Foundation was created to ensure that we can continue to maintain this quality of life and support our parks and recreational opportunities.

Rock Island’s Park & Recreation Department is also unique in that they operate 4 enterprise facilities that include the Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center (RIFAC), Saukie Golf Course, Highland Springs Golf Course and Whitewater Junction.
Did you know that these enterprise operations do not receive tax dollars to operate? Did you also know that all 4 of these enterprise operations are in the black? This is highly unusual in the municipal world, especially when it comes to water parks.

Your donations can help fund scholarships, projects, and any number of items to support our parks and recreation programs, to ensure that Rock Island continues to have the best facilities and programs
